Providing plenty of exercise is one of the important methods of keeping your pet dogs healthy. Taking them out for long walks will provide sufficient exercise and also an opportunity for the dogs to become more attached to you.

There are also other great exercises like playing fetch or swimming or grouse hunting that you can train your dogs in. Whatever the exercise you are giving your German Shepherd Dog, you should make sure it is done on a regular basis or every day.

The next method of ensuring that your dogs stay healthy is by feeding them with a consistent and healthy diet. If you are feeding your dog with dry dog food, it is advisable to stick to a reputed and good brand as frequently changing the brands could upset the digestive pattern. Also, feeding the dogs with too much of raw meat is not advisable. But the best diet that you can feed your pet is a healthy home cooked food, on a regular basis.

Apart from this, it is also very important that you feed your pet the right amount of food. You do not want to make your dog become obese by over feeding it. This could also lead to other health complications, which should be avoided. Hence, proper portioning of your dog’s diet is very important.

By feeding the dog such portioned food, the energy level of the dog is well maintained. The dog will also stay fit and trim without adding too much weight. But since each dog is different, it is best to consult with the veterinarian and provide the recommended food.

Follow all of these tips and you shouldn’t have too much trouble. Every German Shepherd needs to be examined by a vet occasionally. Illnesses that are caught early are often treatable, and regular vet exams are your best weapon. Even the healthiest pet may have an accident, calling for immediate emergency care. Older pets may be in pain from age-related deterioration.
