Painter’s coveralls are white in color and usually are long sleeved. They are intended to keep paint off the painter’s skin and other garments. Some also have a hood which is particularly useful for keeping paint out of the hair when using sprays such as in an auto paint booth or when spraying a ceiling.
Painter’s coveralls are usually worn over an individual’s regular clothing. However, that can be a thin or a thick layer of clothing depending on the environment. Remember, that most paints require temperatures of at least 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit for application so painters aren’t usually prone to cold environments and therefore the coveralls and the undergarments don’t need extra insulation.
Additionally there are some painter’s bib overalls that people consider coveralls as well because they offer just enough protection to keep paint off the front of a painter; painter’s bibs are good for certain jobs such as touch up or trim painting. However, for total body protection when painting, painter’s coveralls are recommended. No matter how good of a painter you are, accidents can still happen…
